What: Suicide TALK session (Free)-90-minute info session on saving lives from suicide builds awareness and encourages open discussion.

What: Education Exhibit on Human Trafficking on Display at the College Center

What: October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (Wear Jeans in OCT and donate in support of CSADV services)

Where: CSADV would like to invite everyone to join their efforts by promoting a “Jeans Day” at your place of employment during the month of Oct. 

When: Pick a day or several where employees can wear blue jeans to work for a $5.00 donation to CSADV

Why: We will have approximately 365 baskets to deliver. Many hands make for light work. Please consider donating 1-2 hours to our project

 

What: Tyson is announcing the Nonprofit Summer Job Program

Who: All non-profits

Where: More information about the Program and a link to the application can be found at – https://iacampuscompact.org/resource-posts/nonprofits-eligible-tyson-community-internship-funding/.

Key Points:

  1. The Program provides 22 nonprofit organizations with a grant of $3,000 to hire a qualified college student to work eight weeks during the summer.
  2. This is a competitive program – nonprofits must apply in the next several weeks to participate.
  3. Tyson Foods has awarded a grant to Campus Compact to administer the program on our behalf.  All questions about the application should be directed to Justin Ellis at 515-235-4681.
  4. The nonprofits have sole discretion for choosing which college student they hire.  Tyson Foods does not get involved with employment choices.

October 11 Meeting

Thank you to everyone who joined us on October 11 at our monthly meeting. We heard from Sarah Deck with Juvenile Diversion about our DCC community goal, Jennifer Jackson presenting on the AWARE grant, Matt Ohman presenting on 0>3 Prime Age to Engage literacy distribution, Julie Boyle presenting on the Think Make Create Trailer, and Kim Neesen who spoke about Nebraska Dept of Labor Services.
